"Aton" sells "Patra"
Among the potential buyers are "SUN Interbrew" and "Ivan Taranov Breweries" In several weeks the investment group "Aton" plans to complete negotiations about the sale of the working control of Ekaterinburg brewing company "Patra". As the most probable buyers the analysts call the companies "SUN Interbrew" and "Ivan Taranov Breweries". Thus the experts estimate the cost of the company as $ 50 millions, and the seller as $ 75 millions. Ekaterinburg "Patra" is a large regional brewing company; its powers are compared to Tver plant "Afanasiy" or "Irkutskpisheprom". Under the data of the informational agency "Interfax-Ural" last year the plant produced about 6,9 million decilitres of beer. Under the data of the marketing agency "Business Analytica" at the end of the last year "Patra" took about 0,6 % of the beer market of Russian Federation. The working control of the company (50,56 %) belongs to "Brewing company "Patra" CSC, close to the management of the company, 25,5 % to the company "RedkaufInvest" and 23,82 % to "Damsel Ventures Ltd". As the vice-president of the investment group "Aton" Cyril Lipa informed, his company is the investment adviser of the holders of the working control of "Patra" shares and seeks for the buyer. As he said, the proposals were sent to the potential buyers in May of the last year. In the middle of summer "Aton" employed the advisers for financial check of the company. The high-ranking employee of "Patra" promised to give the commenting later, referring to the absence of the general director. The main claimants for purchasing of approximately 75 % of "Patra" shares the vice-president of "Aton" Aleksandr Agibalov calls "SUN Interbrew" and "Ivan Taranov Breweries ". "Aton" estimates the cost of "Patra" not less than $ 75 millions, taking into account the fact that the powers of the company today are not fully loaded. By the supposition of the "Aton" representative, the bargain can be finished within several nearest weeks. The chairman of the supervisory council of "PIT" Evgeny Kashper confirmed the fact of negotiations with "Aton". However, as he said, there were no meetings with the owners of Ekaterinburg company and negotiations "have not come in practical plane ". The proposal to purchase "Patra" received also Oleg Tinkov, but he refused. His time is possessed with the building of his own plant in St.-Petersburg. The vice-president of the company "SUN" Igor Gundobin refused from commenting. The independent analysts consider the most probable buyer of "Patra" the Belgian group "SUN", which controls about a quarter of the Ekaterinburg company. "SUN" is also the shareholder of the company "SUN Interbrew", making beer "Tolstyak" and "Klinskoye". " It is the most probable buyer. They already have a share in " Patra ", moreover the company experiences lacks of powers for beer production", - the analyst of "Alpha - bank" Aleksandr Svinov supposes. As Mr.Svinov supposes, the cost of the company will be varied in the limits of $ 50 millions, because the powers of Ekaterinburg plant remain underloaded. The analyst of the company "Renaissance Capital" Natalia Zagvozdina also considers "SUN Interbrew" as the most probable claimant for the working control of "Patra". She reminds, that the managers of the Belgian company earlier showed interest to Ekaterinburg firm. Half a year ago "SUN" already made large purchasing: the company bought for Kaha Bendukidze a brewery in Chuvashiya "Bulgar-Hmel", having interrupted the proposal of Oleg Tinkov. Nevertheless "SUN Interbrew" remains the only large company working in Russia, which still lacks own powers. According to the analysts of UFG, if the company had additional powers, in 2003 it could produce more 8 % of beer. The purchase of "Patra", if it takes place, eliminates this deficit, forecasts Mrs.Zagvozdina from "Renaissance". However, "PIT" is also interested in increase of powers. In the autumn of the last year it announced about the plans to construct own plant in Moscow suburbs.

The antimonopoly committee prohibited "Sarmat" to purchase "Obolon"

By the conclusion of the Committee, as a result of the acquisition of the shares the integrated group of the companies "Obolon" and "Sarmat" will take 37,2 % of the national market of beer and, thus, will become the privately owned monopolist.
