"DANONE" WILL PURCHASE CONTROL STOCK OF "WIMM-BILL-DANN"
French company "Danone" up to the end of the current month can make an agreement about the purchasing of the control stock of the company "Wimm-Bill-Dann", one of the main manufacturers of the dairy and juice production in Russia. The French company negotiates about the redeeming of the share of the Russian shareholders of "WBD", which is estimated as $ 900 million. "Danone", which already possesses 7 % of the company's shares, in one year can consider a possibility to sale "Wimm-Bill-Dann" business, connected with production of juices and potable water, to such companies as "Coca-Cola", "Pepsi", "Nestle", keeping production of dairy. The negotiations between "Danone" and "Wimm-Bill-Dann" continue more than two years. They started even before the Russian company has placed its shares on the New York stock exchange. Thus the most difficult question to discuss was a problem about the price, as the shares of "Wimm-Bill-Dann" are considered by some analysts to be overestimated. The turnover of the joint-stock company "Wimm-Bill-Dann" in 2003 can exceed $ 1 billion, informs BizTime.ru. Let's mark, that "WBD" shareholders also posess almost 100 % of the "Central European Brewing Company" (CEBC) shares, which today controls four brewing productions: Moskvoretsk brewery (Moscow), Bashkir "Shikhan", "Primorie Brewing industry" (Vladivostok) and "Volga-Invest" in Nizhni Novgorod. According to the data of the "Business Analytics " marketing agency, under the totals of January - May of this year CEBC took 2,6 % of the beer market and produced about 7,5 million decilitres of beer.
WITHIN 9 MONTHS OF THE CURRENT YEAR "SARMAT" HAS INCREASED PRODUCTION OF BEER ALMOST 15 %
"Sarmat" CSC (DONETSK) is one of the four largest brewing companies of Ukraine. In January - September it increased production of beer 14,9 % as contrasted to the same period of the last year up to 12,429 million decilitres, informs "Ukrpivo" company. In September the company produced 924,7 thousand decilitres of beer that is 1 % less than in September 2002. Let's remind, that "Sarmat" is a headquarters plant of Donetsk beer group, which comprises "Dnieper" Beer and soft drinks plant" (Dnepropetrovsk), " Lugansk Brewery ", " Poltavpivo" company, " Kiev brewery ¹ 1 " and "Crimea" Beer and soft drinks plant" (Simferopol). Within the period since January till September of the current year "Dnieper" Beer and soft drinks plant" produced 1 million 632 thousand decilitres of beer that is 26 % more than for the same period of the last year. In September 2003 the plant produced 178 thousand decilitres of beer, or 87 % more, than in September 2002. Within nine months of this year Lugansk brewery increased production of beer 28,6 % up to 1 million 168 thousand decilitres. In relation to 2002, this September the company increased production of an amber drink 27 % (up to 134,6 thousand decilitres). Within three quarters of 2003 "Poltavpivo" produced 1 million 831 thousand decilitres, that is 27 % more, than for the nine months of 2002. Production of beer in September of the current year amounted to176 thousand decilitres, or 40,8 % more in relation to the same period of 2002. Within nine months "Crimea" Beer and soft drinks plant" increased production of beer 10 % - up to 3 millions 846 thousand decilitres. In relation to September of the last year it was made 16,4 % more (production increased up to 323,1 thousand decilitres). In January - September Kiev Brewery ¹ 1 made 282,2 thousand decilitres of beer, it is 8,6 % less, than for the same period of the last year, and in September - 30,5 thousand decilitres, i.e. at a level of September 2002.

"Baltica-Petersburg" plant has initiated with production of beer "Baltica N8 Pshenichnoe" in a premium bottle of 0,5 litre. As the press service of "Baltica Brewing Company" informed, the supplier of the new bottle is "Chagodoshensk Glass Plant and Co" (Chagoda village, Vologda region). From the very beginning of the production (end of 2001), due to the especial gustatory qualities, this beer was referred to category of premium sorts. That is why bottling of "Baltica N8 Pshenichnoe" in a colourful premium bottle of 0,33 litre was adjusted. Now this beer will appear in the market in new premium container of 0,5 litre. "Baltica" was the first among Russian brewing companies to start the production of an absolutely new for Russia sort of beer "Pshenichnoe" (Wheat) on the basis of wheat malt. " Baltica N8 Phenichnoe " is a beer with mild fruit flavour and sweet taste. The contents of alcohol is not less than 5,0 %, extractiveness of initial wort is 12,5%. Since 2002 "Pshenichnoe" made by "Baltica" is exported to 17 foreign countries. "Baltica Brewing Company" is based in 1990. It was registered in July 1992. The authorized capital of the company makes 120 million 572 thousand 800 roubles. It is divided into 107 millions 87 thousand 200 common and 13 millions 485 thousand 600 privileged shares of "A" type with face value of 1 rouble. The largest shareholder of company is "Baltic Beverage Holding AB" (74,24 % of the shares). In the first half of 2003 "Baltica" realised 8 million hectolitres of beer. Under the totals of the first half of 2003 the share of the Russian beer market, occupided by the company has amounted to 21,1%. The export sales of production were increased 9 % as contrasted to the first half of 2002 and amounted to 497 thousand hectolitres. A net profit of St.Petersburg "Baltica Brewing Company" by US GAAP in the first half of 2003 amounted to $ 64,4 million that is 10,6 % less than the same index of 2002.
IMPORT OF THE RUSSIAN BEER TO ESTONIA INCREASES YEAR BY YEAR
The volume of import of the Russian beer to Estonia within a year has grown almost eight times. The newspaper "The Eesti Paevaleht" notified, that if in 2001 Estonia imported 7 thousand 850 decilitres of the Russian beer, in 2002 it was already 61 thousand 900 decilitres, and for the first half of 2003 it was 51 thousand 800 decilitres. Production of the Russians presented, first of all, by "Baltica" beer from St. Petersburg, and also by the beer from Yaroslavl and Tver plants. The traders of the Russian beer in the local market explain this increase of sales volume by the high quality of beer, moderate price and diversity of beer container versions.
